Biography
Leia Organa was born as the Galatic Empire rose to power. Her mother,Padmé Amidala, died shortly after Leia's birth, only living long enough to name her and her brother Luke Skywalker. To protect her from the clutches of the Empire, Leia was taken to Alderaan by Queen Breha Organa and Viceroy Bail Organa, where she would be raised as their own child.
Leia is next seen fleeing from the Empire with the plans to the Death Star. As the cruiser she was on was boarded by Darth Vader's forces, Leia loaded plans onto the droid R2-D2 with a coded message for Obi-Wan Kenobi. Leia's cleverness bought the Rebel Alliance some time and helped start Luke Skywalker on his fateful journey.
While a prisoner of Darth Vader, Leia was forced to to witness the power of the Death Star when Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin used the massive spacecraft's main laser to destroy her home planet of Alderaan. Soon after this tragedy, Leia was rescued by Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Chewbacca and would go on to help organize the Battle of Yavin, which would eventually spell the end of the Empire's Death Star.
Princess Leia gave a speech after the Battle of Yavin to thank the Rebel Alliance for their courage and to remember the fallen, taking time to mention Alderaan and her adopted parents. As the other rebels prepared to flee Yavin 4, expecting a counter attack from the Empire, Leia found herself without a part to play as General Jan Dodonna revealed that a bounty had been placed on the head of all Alderaanians. As a result, she was ordered "simply to grieve" for her lost people. Not willing to sit still while others fought, Leia enlisted the help of Rebel pilot and fellow Alderaanian, Evaan Verlaine and the droid R2-D2. Due to Evaan's clever flying, the two were able to leave Yavin 4 and start a quest to find and protect every surviving son and daughter of Alderaan.
Leia's journey took her to the planet Naboo, home to an Alderaanian Cloister. Leia, Evaan, and R2-D2 had barely been on the planet five minutes before the Princess was recognized by Lord Junn, an old friend of Leia's adopted parents. Lord Junn gives Leia a lead on where she can find the rest of the local Alderaanian's. Posing as an Imperial agent, Leia went to the meeting location to find that she had been sold out by Lord Junn. Leia, Evaan, and R2-D2 fought their way out of the ambush; a fight that gained the attention of Madam Pareece, a manager for the Alderaanian band Melodic Order. Gathering the band and their manager, Leia confront Lord Junn about his betrayal. As an apology, the Alderannians were given one of Lord Junn's shuttles to get all of the refugees off Naboo.
Sometime later, Leia would join Luke, Han, and Chewbacca on a mission to Weapons Factory Alpha on Cymoon 1 in an attempt to sabotoge a major Imperial resource. While working their way to the complex's power core, Darth Vader arrived at Factory Alpha. Leia would give the group's presence away by ordering Chewbacca to shoot Darth Vader, which ultimately failed. Stealing an AT-AT, Leia and Han manage to escape the factory with dozens of slave workers. When Darth Vader destroyed the walker, Leia carried an injured Han to the safety of the Millennium Falcon and escaped as the weapons factory burned in the distance.
Leia would next appear as a leader of the Rebel Alliance at Echo Base on Hoth. Durning the Battle of Hoth, Leia would help organize the retreat of many rebels before fleeing with Han in the Millennium Falcon. Leia traveled through the asteroid belt and to Cloud City, where she would witness the betrayal of Han by his old friend, Lando Calrissian. At this time Leia first confessed her love for Han.
Leia would travel to Tatooine in an attempt to rescue Han from the crime lord Jabba the Hutt. Leia's would be taken captive by the crime lord and made his slave. Soon after Luke arrived at Hutt's palace in an attempt to resuce Leia and Han, but this attempt would also fail. When Jabba took Luke, Han, and Leia to the Sarlacc Pit to execute them, the heroes managed to escape with the help of Lando Calrissian. Leia used the chaos of the escape to strangle Jabba with her chains.
Leia meets up with the other Rebal leaders and is informed that the Empire is creating a second Death Star. Leia travels to the moon of Endor with Han and Luke to brind down the shield generator that is protecting the Death Star. While on Endor Luke reveals to Leia that he is her brother and that Darth Vader is their father. While Luke goes to confront their father, Leia works with Han and their new allies, the Ewoks, to bring down the shield generator and allow the Rebal Alliance to destroy the Death Star.
After the rise of the New Republic and the signing of the Galactic Concordance, Leia continued to keep an eye on what remained of the Empire. During this time her and Han Solo had a son named Ben. Ben was strong in the Force, but showed tendencies towards the Dark Side, so Leia sent him to Luke for training. Something went wrong during the training and Ben killed the other students before taking the name Kylo Ren and leaving to follow the teachings of Supreme Leader Snoke.
Han and Leia's relationship fell apart after loosing their son and Leia focused all of her attention on watching the Empire's next move. When a faction of the Empire returned from Unknown Regions calling themselves The First Order, Leia petitioned the New Republic to respond. When it became clear that no military help was coming, Leia gathered former Rebel leaders and formed the Resistance.
