workers strike at union square, which means that the dispute will stretch longer into the holidays. the workers are on strike at five iconic hotels in and around union square. their union has spent months battling over health care benefits and wage increases. talks have stalled some union members say they are cranking up the noise and the pressure. some 500 workers at the marriott marquis hotel joined the picket lines this week, and the union says workers from another eight hotels may join as well. some shoppers, though, are worried that the strike could hurt tourism during the holiday season. we need these hotels to run and we need tourists to feel safe and not be, you know, confronted with picketing lines when they come to our city. we did reach out to marriott international about their workers joining the strike, but have not gotten any response. the other hotels involved have repeatedly said that they are continuing to negotiate in good faith. another protest outside terminal two at oakland's airport. union workers from different aiines say they're struggling with the cost of living. they say their current

11:15 pm
drop that idea. as nbc bay area's robert honda explains, there's a new plan being a new plan being unveiled next week. reporter leo rhyne park is a beautiful place that many residents of foster city and san mateo county enjoy when they can. but starting years ago, canadian geese fnd foster city an ideal habitat with all its grass and water, and settled in. city officials say the geese population has more than doubled and now occupy much of the park and other public areas. karen and dan dykeman have lived in foster city for nearly 40 years, and they're enthusiastic about any plan to get rid of the geese. anything they can do to get rid of the geese would be an improvement. they are horrible. they leave their droppings all over the place, mess to walk through. you try to walk your dogs through it and they try to eat it. it is just disgusting. it is nasty. it's a horrible problem. we have, i think, three of the five most polluted beaches in all of california in this city because of the geese.
11:16 pm
and so as a result, you come here for the beautiful water views, the beautiful water activities, and your kids can't go anywhere near the beach because it's so contaminated. figuring out what to do is problematic. a couple of years ago, a frustrated city council approved a plan that would have killed about 100 geese, but backed off after animal rights groups staged protests and the city reported about 15,000 complaints. this monday, the council will review a plan based largely on a similar effort in new jersey, utilizing among other things, noise devices, flashing lights and lasers, as well as disrupting nesting areas. these are measures that are expensive, to be quite frank with you, but really, really important. just killing the geese is not the right solution. we don't know if that's going to stop the geese moving forward, but it's just so inhumane. the deichmanns are hopeful but skeptical. i'm confident that they will try whatever way that
11:17 pm
they can to keep from having protests and anything else going on. i'm not sure how successful they'll be. they may be successful for a short period of time, but then the ones who've left will be replaced by new ones. the city and county are not rushing the process. this mitigation is a three year plan, but officials say if it works, they would like to expand it to all the other parks in the area. in foster city, robert honda, nbc, bay area news. well, the 49ers are catching some heat after a fan event took a kind of a mean twist here. the niners were in green bay last weekend to face the packers. jesus de la rosa and his brother are packers fans who went to a 49ers fan event with their uncle, who's a niners fan. the 14 year old ended up winning a raffle for a ball signed by christian mccaffrey. that's when things went a bit sideways. the family wasn't surprised when the teenager started to get hazed by the other niners fans, but what they didn't expect was that the host wouldn't give them the ball. he won and i was all excited to receive the ball, he said. i couldn't since i was
11:18 pm
rocking the packer gear, i felt embarrassed. i felt judged just because, you know, i love the sport, i love football, everything about it. they gave the ball to a 49ers fan instead. the team did send the la rosa de la rosa a different gift. nice one. a helmet signed by niners safety talanoa hufanga. but many packers fans were still upset. the niners say the incident was really meant to be friendly banter with no deeper malice there. by the way, the packers quarterback is from the central valley. his name is jordan love, he said. de la rosa, a signed jersey to make up for the lost ball. that's nice. that was kind of poor sportsmanship not to give him the ball. it all works out. i think ultimately he got two things instead of one. he's still there. he came out winning. jeff is here. we are, what, 40 minutes until thanksgiving? how you doing? and so thankful for the forecast we have coming in for tomorrow and the next couple of days. you know, was this time last week we had a storm system that dumped anywhere from 4 to 14in across a lot of the bay area. so we have
