Handguns (PEORIA, IL) Friday, June 14, 2024, at approximately 2:38 p.m. members of the Peoria Police Department’s Special Investigations Division (SID) observed a wanted subject leaving a residence in the 500 block of Alexander, enter a vehicle and drive away. Police observed the vehicle come to a stop in the 2200 block of W. Willow Knolls. They immediately made contact with the two male subjects inside. During a search of the vehicle, officers located two loaded handguns inside a backpack the wanted subject had in his possession. One of the handguns was reported stolen. Another loaded handgun was located inside the vehicle. The wanted subject identified as 25-year-old Lamell K. Carwell was transported to the Peoria Police Department for interviewing purposes and subsequently arrested for Criminal Damage to Property, Domestic Battery, Theft, Disorderly Conduct, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon (2 counts), Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon (2 counts), Resisting Police, and an Active Warrant. Carwell was transported to the Peoria County Jail. The driver of the vehicle was released on the scene. POLICE DEPARTMENT4 days agoAgencyAggravated Battery (PEORIA, IL) Saturday, June 15, 2024, at approximately 10:51 p.m. Peoria Police were dispatched to the 2200 block of W. Marquette Avenue on a report of a person shot. When police arrived, they located a male juvenile (13 years old) with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg. The juvenile was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Members of the Peoria Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID), Crime Scene Unit (CSU), and Patrol Unit responded to the scene and initiated an investigation. POLICE DEPARTMENTa week agoAgencyArmed Robbery (UPDATE BELOW) (PEORIA, IL) Monday, April 8, 2024, at approximately 12:36 p.m. Peoria Police responded to a business in the 500 block of Spring Street regarding an Armed Robbery. When officers arrived, they made contact with a business employee who told police a male subject entered the store and displayed a handgun. The suspect then took money from a customer and fled the scene on foot. No one was injured. Officers conducted a search of the area for the suspect with negative results. This incident is under investigation. There is currently no suspect information. On Thursday, June 13, 2024, at approximately 4:51 a.m. Peoria Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 300 block of N. Saratoga. During the stop officers made contact with Drummond and immediately took him into custody without incident. Drummond was subsequently arrested for Armed Robbery. He was transported to the Peoria County Jail. Arcadia on a report of three people shot. When officers arrived, they located three adult males with apparent gunshot wounds. All three victims were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. POLICE DEPARTMENTa week agoAgencyAggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon (PEORIA, IL) Thursday, June 13, 2024, at approximately 4:12 p.m. members of the Peoria Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID) with the assistance of a License Plate Reader (LPR) located a vehicle connected to a recent shooting investigation. (#24-11735) Officers observed the vehicle come to a stop in the 7500 block of N. Grand Prairie Drive with two male juveniles and one adult male inside. Police immediately detained the three males and conducted a search of the vehicle where a handgun was located inside. The males ages 17, 22, and 17 were transported to the Peoria Police Department for interviewing purposes. One of the juveniles was subsequently arrested for Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, No FOID, and Possession of a Handgun Under 21. He was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center. The other two males were later released. POLICE DEPARTMENT4 days agoAgencyAggravated Battery (PEORIA, IL) Sunday, June 16, 2024, at approximately 4:52 p.m. Peoria Police were called to the 700 block of E. Kansas on a report of a child who had been shot. When officers arrived, they located the 8-year-old male victim outside the residence with an apparent gunshot wound to the head. The child was immediately transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Members of the Peoria Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID), Crime Scene Unit (CSU), and Patrol Unit responded to the scene and initiated an investigation. During the course of the investigation, officers learned that one male juvenile (17 years old) and one adult male identified as 26-year-old Micah D. Stitts were present when the shooting occurred. The juvenile fled the scene and was not located. Micah Stitts was transported to the Peoria Police Department for interviewing purposes and subsequently arrested for an Active Warrant and Endangering the Health and Life of a Child. Michah Stitts was transported to the Peoria County Jail. This incident remains under investigation.
